Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you’re logged in — so it works correctly on your next visit. Cookies can’t run programs or carry viruses.

2. Functional cookies (required)

These cookies are essential for BoatQuest to work. You can’t opt out of them while using the service.

CookiePurposeDuration
sb-auth-tokenKeeps you signed in to your BoatQuest account (Supabase auth session)Session / 7 days
bq-prefsStores your display preferences (e.g. currency, unit system)1 year

3. Analytics cookies (optional)

We use privacy-preserving analytics to understand how people use BoatQuest — which features are most popular, where users get stuck, and how performance can be improved. These cookies do not track you across other sites and do not share data with advertising networks.

You can opt out of analytics cookies at any time by emailing privacy@boatquest.co.uk or by adjusting your browser settings (see section 5 below).

4. Third-party cookies

When you make a payment, Stripe may set its own cookies to detect fraud and verify your session. These are governed by Stripe’s Cookie Policy. BoatQuest does not control these cookies.

We do not use cookies from advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers.

5. How to manage cookies

All modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Here’s where to find those controls:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Note: blocking functional cookies will prevent you from staying logged in to BoatQuest.
