Data Sources & Takedown Requests

Last updated: June 2026 Β· AirOMair Ltd (SC328639), trading as BoatQuest

What data we collect and why

BoatQuest aggregates publicly available used-boat listings to give buyers independent price intelligence, comparable sales data, and AI-generated risk reports. Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): we enable buyers to make informed purchase decisions in a market that has historically been opaque and seller-biased.

We do not store or republish personal contact details (phone numbers, email addresses) from listings. Where a listing references a named broker or private seller, we link back to the original source rather than republishing their contact information.

Our data sources

We collect data from publicly accessible marine classifieds, broker directories, and licensed data feeds including:

  • UK marketplaces: Apollo Duck, Rightboat, YBW, Boatshed, The Yacht Market, boats.co.uk, Ancasta, and others
  • EU marketplaces: boat24, botentekoop, bootsmarkt, inautia, barche, and others
  • International: Kijiji (CA), boatsales.com.au, Trade Me Boats (NZ), dubizzle (AE), and others
  • Licensed feeds: YachtBroker.org (licensed data agreement in place)

We honour each site's robots.txt rules and crawl-delay directives. We do not circumvent login walls or IP-block evasion measures.

Your rights

If you are a private seller, broker, or listing site and you want data about your listing removed from BoatQuest, you have the right to request erasure or object to processing under UK GDPR Arts. 17 and 21.

We will action valid takedown requests within 48 hours of receipt.

How to request removal

Send an email to hello@boatquest.co.uk with:

  • Subject line: Data Takedown Request
  • The URL of the listing on BoatQuest and/or the original source URL
  • Your name or organisation and your relationship to the data (seller, broker, data owner)

We will confirm receipt within 24 hours and complete removal within 48 hours. If you need to report a data breach or compliance concern, please also see our Privacy Policy.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
